Prescription Drug Addiction Is A Serious Matter In This Country
Prescription drug addiction is just as big of a problem as other drugs, and in fact, much about prescription drugs, specifically opiates, has been in the news recently after the death of Prince. Opiates are always a hot topic, and there are also many other types of prescription drugs that people are addicted to as well. I just finished writing a personal account of a friend I knew that had a meth addiction, and now I'm going to tell you about my friend who has a prescription drug addiction.
The first thing you need to know is that while he is addicted to a particular prescription drug now, it all started with heroin. He said he never used needles, but he would always snort heroin. Well, that got to be too much, and he found an out by snorting prescription pills. However, he doesn't get a scrip for them; instead, he gets them on the street.
However, as I write this, I can tell you that his addiction to the pills has switched yet again to heroin. It became difficult for him to get the pills, and he decided to get heroin instead. It's much easier for him to get, and it's rather cheap these days. He told me that he will get a bag for 20 bucks, and when he was doing the pills, it would cost him anywhere from 6 to 30 dollars a pill. He would do different ones, but his pill of choice was a particular one. They were all opiate painkillers.
The other day he was getting ready to snort heroin, and I've been around him when he's been on both. He's a really good guy to know, but he just has a problem. When he's not able to get something for a couple days, he gets really sick. I've only seen him sick from not having pills, not from being without heroin. He told me that one of his friends overdosed the other day and had to be brought back to life.
He actually lost his place to live the other day, and now he is living with his ex day to day. The place he was living in he wasn't paying for. He's an unemployed handyman, and his body is starting to fall apart. It' sad guys, and if you have a similar story, it's time to take a stand. It's time to get the help that you need. Check into a rehabilitation center if you have to, or reach out to a church.
If you don't know what to do, reach out to a friend or family member for help. Everyone's situation is different. Some people don't have family, and some people don't have friends. Some people don't feel like they have anyone. Addiction is an ugly thing, and it can take over your life. Whatever position you are in, there are people that care about you. You just have to reach out to the right people for help, and you can start your life anew. Each day is a new day!
